Hi Stephen. Is John Piper, as a son of the living God, to be characterised as bad? I think Paul (and others!) would say John Piper *was* bad, but now he has been sanctified.
Do you not know that the bad shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived...And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of God (1C6). I'll post on my own blog about this soon. D
we are still sinners saved by Grace. If we say we have no sin, we lie and the truth is not in us! We are bad, but we are better, Augustine said for the non christian it was non possi non paccari, not possible not to sin. For the believer though he asserted it was possi non peccari, that is it was possible for the believer not to sin. We have a different state but sins reign in our lives continues until we see Him and become like him
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God - that includes me and Piper! Thankfully, He loves us even though we are bad. Though there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, it is only on account of His righteousness (freely imputed), not our own.
